Logistics moves the modern economy, and it also moves carbon. At Veloship we treat decarbonization as a core operating metric — measured, reported, and engineered into every route we plan.
We set our first formal emissions target in 2019, before it was fashionable, because the math was unavoidable: a logistics network that grows while the planet warms is a network with an expiration date. Veloship has committed to a 50% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 against a 2019 baseline, and to net-zero across our controlled operations by 2040. These are not aspirations filed away in a report — they are line items in how we buy fuel, route freight, and design warehouses.
We report annually against the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and have our methodology reviewed by an independent third party. Customers can download our full sustainability disclosure, including methodology and raw figures, from their account dashboard. We would rather be audited than applauded.
Our planning engine ranks routes by both cost and CO₂, defaulting customers to the lower-carbon option when transit time allows.
Last-mile fleets in 14 metro areas now run on electric vans, with a target of 100% zero-emission urban delivery by 2032.
AI-driven consolidation fills containers to 96% capacity on average, cutting empty-mile emissions across our ocean network.
Modal shift.Wherever a shipment’s timeline permits, we move it from air to ocean or rail. A single ocean container can carry the equivalent of dozens of air-freight pallets at roughly one-tenth the carbon. Our quote engine shows customers the emissions difference side by side, so the greener choice is also the informed one.
Cleaner fuel. We are a founding participant in two sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) procurement pools and have contracted blended SAF for 12% of our air volume, rising each year. On the ocean side, we prioritize carriers operating scrubber-fitted and methanol-ready vessels.
Circular packaging. Through our packaging program, customers can opt into reusable crates and recycled-content mailers. Returned packaging is recovered at 38 hubs worldwide and cycled back into the network, diverting an estimated 1,400 tonnes of single-use material annually.
Facility power. All Veloship-owned sorting centers in Europe and North America are powered by certified renewable electricity, and our newest mega-hub in Singapore runs on a rooftop solar array supplemented by grid green tariffs.
Sustainability is not only about emissions. We hold our suppliers to a human-rights and labor standard audited annually, and we refuse to contract carriers that cannot demonstrate fair-wage and safe-working-condition policies. Our community program directs 1% of net revenue to logistics-training scholarships in the ports where we operate, building the next generation of trade professionals in the cities that move our freight.
We also believe transparency extends to our customers’ choices. Every Veloship invoice includes the estimated carbon footprint of that month’s shipments, benchmarked against industry averages, so sustainability leads become measurable inside the businesses we serve.
